In 2010 the ITF agreed that to keep the FOC campaign effective and moving with the times a new type of event was needed, to inject energy into maritime campaigning and increase the involvement of unions on the ground. That’s how the MRT was born.
The event, held in September 2012, focused on activists and future union leaders joining forces to share, learn and help the ITF to take the FOC campaign forward for the benefit of all workers. One of the aims of the MRT was to build up a network of skilled and proactive union activists. We hope that network will continue to work together and support each other in the future and be a valuable tool for maritime activists.
